When Raj is told that his father Arjun Singh has died due to heart failure, he is deeply hurt with guilt for not being there when he died. On the way to the funeral, he meets a girl named Reshma and talks with her. He finds out that she is on her way to Amritsar. She offers him water, but he refuses because she had just sneezed on it. While on the bus ridership to Amritsar, they meet each other again and she introduces herself as Anjali Sinha, who is going home for her wedding. But Raj has his mind on Sukhwinder and does not recognize her for some time after she reveals who she really is.Raj recalls their childhood in Amritsar when they played cricket together in their locality under a tree called "Love Tree". He was the captain of the team and Sukhwinder was the wicket keeper. He had a good relationship with his father, even though Anjali did not like him. His father wanted Raj to be more like Sukhwinder (he played cricket, studies well), but he was more interested in spending time with Reshma (Anjali). One day, Anjali came to know that Reshma is getting married. After this incident, Raj completely forgot about Anjali and started focusing on cricket.After reminiscing about his past, Raj goes to meet Reshma but she is unhappy because her fiancé has left her on the pretext of it being an inter-caste marriage. Raj tells her that she isn't unlucky and they meet again. In the meantime, Sukhwinder meets a girl named Mitali who is from the same locality as his school. She has been studying in Singapore for the past 7 years. The story progresses with each man falling in love with a woman who look similar to the woman who left them 7 years ago. Raj wants to play cricket with Anjali while Sukhwinder wants to travel around world with Mitali on his bike.Raj goes to meet Reshma at her home on Diwali, but her mother does not let him enter because he is an "outsider". Reshma and her father try to get Raj and Sukhwinder to get along by betting on the cricket match. The two decide to play together at the ground, where Sukhwinder is seen hitting Raj's shots. When Raj bats, his shots result in "bandar". Then Reshma comes up to hit a shot, which results in a "bandar". At this stage, both Anjali and Mitali arrive at the ground and confront Reshma because she cheated for playing. Mitali comes forward in front of everyone in order to defend Reshma, saying that she has been in a relationship with Sukhwinder for the past 7 years.
